Labour Party Reform – Support for Councillors
Labour Local Councillors are often the most public face of the party and a significant part of the campaigning strength that is so vital to the wider party.
As part of the NEC’s work on reforming our party one of the vital strands is to look at the role of councillors, how they are represented within the party structures and the need to provide top quality support for their vital role.
In the Eastern Region we have currently 417 Labour councillors in boroughs, districts, cities and counties. We control 7 cities and boroughs but also have well over 50% of our councillors doing vital work in opposition trying to control the worst excesses of Tory local government cuts and making sure that our Labour policies are known and heard.
In order to explore some of the issues in a bit more depth and ensure that the National Party hears the views of the Eastern Region we are holding two listening and discussion events and hope very much that you will be able to attend one of them.
If you would like to come to this discussion in Harlow, please RSVP below. There will be a Labour In for Britain campaign session organised in Harlow after the discussion events, so please do join us if you have time.
If you have any questions or would like to contribute in any other way then please do not hesitate to contact me.
With best wishes
