Pickles- Bad for Luton's Health

The Labour candidate in Luton South has welcomed Conservative candidate Nigel Huddleston and Tory party chairman Eric Pickles on their first visit to the town of 2010. But he also slammed Tory plans to scrap NHS guarantees on Cancer and GP hours.

On the same day that senior Tory figures around the UK unveiled a new Conservative poster campaign, Gavin Shuker said:

“It’s always nice to have a visit by the Conservative candidate to our constituency, with or without the shadow cabinet in tow.

“I’m glad that Nigel has made his first visit to Luton South of the new year. But no number of posters can convince us here in Luton that our NHS would be better if the Tories took away our rights to see a doctor outside work hours, or the guarantee you’ll see a cancer specialist in the first two weeks.

“Just look at the Luton & Dunstable - I was born in there and I’ve seen it flourish over the past decade. We stumped up the cash after the malnourished Tory years and now it’s ranked as the best hospital in the East of England.”
