The National Executive Committee of the Labour Party has agreed to establish working groups to progress planned Party reform processes. As part of these processes, regional consultation events are being organised to ensure members have an opportunity to engage and feed into the process.

Following on from the first event in Witham in February, the next Party reform event will be in Cambridge and will focus on gender representation within the Labour Party. The aim is to ensure our views get through to the Party, so that we can affect the way the Party operates as well as enabling women in the community to identify with Labour.  The Cambridge event is scheduled for Saturday 21 May 11am – 1pm, Alex Wood Hall, Norfolk Street, Cambridge CB1 2LD.
This event will be chaired by Ann Black from the NEC and we are keen to have our voice - your voice - heard by National Office and the Party in shaping Labour for the future!
If you would like to attend the discussion event and engage in the Labour Party’s gender representation consultation process, then please RSVP below. Equally, if you know of any other members who would like to get involved, please do pass the invite on.

In the afternoon, from 2-4pm, Cambridge CLP Women's Officer Councillor Ann Sinnott is organising a workshop event 'Caring and Politics - Can they be combined? This session will address the need for more women in politics at both national and local levels whilst exploring the issue that whether in relation to children or elderly relatives, the majority of women are, or will become, Carers. Questions including 'Are there barriers that deter Carers from standing for office?  What can be done to persuade Carers to stand for office and/or to stay in office once they become Carers? What is it like to hold office in conjunction with caring-responsibilities?' will be discussed. For more information, please contact Ann on

Thank you.
Dr Jocelynne A. Scutt, Member of Eastern Regional Board, Cambridgeshire County Councillor and CLP Political Education Officer
