Coalition hits five Councils across the East with maximum cut

Caroline Flint, Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local GovernmentThe Local Government Finance Settlement, announced today, revealed that Breckland, Great Yarmouth, Norwich, Harlow and Fenland Councils will lose the maximum 8.9% cut in “spending power”  

Caroline Flint MP, Labour’s Shadow Communities and Local Government Secretary, responding to today’s Local Government Finance Settlement, said:

“Many people up and down the country will feel let down by this deeply unfair settlement.

“All Eric Pickles’ warm words about transitional funds can't disguise the truth – the poorest neighbourhoods will be hardest hit while the better off will do best as a result of to the choices the Coalition Government are making.”
